Depressing toy
My daughter loved Toy Story 3 and couldn't wait to get Lotso for her 4th birthday. It was literally the only thing she wanted. I picked it up in Toys R Us and was pretty excited, too. He talked, looked worn and smelled like Strawberries. What's there not to like, right?

We gave it to her and she was ecstatic. She even took a nap with it and carried him around in a stroller. All was well until he started talking. This is seriously the most emotionally needy toy EVER MADE. He is very depressingly overbearing and keeps asking for hugs with near guilt trips. He gets caught in a loop where he'll just say "awww...what's the matter....somebody sounds sad. Give me a hug." After the 10th time of him saying it, my daughter started yelling "I'm not sad, stop it already!!" at him. She asked me to turn it off, telling me "He keeps saying I'm sad. It's pretty annoying."

There are other creepy sayings like "are you feeling blue, well give me a hug," but this is the one we kept hearing over and over. The batteries have been taken out and all is better. A bit of waste of money, really. It would've been funny if it came with a toy bottle of Paxil and noose or something. I'd love to hear him say "It's ok you don't call me on holidays. I understand you're busy and have parties to go to and whatnot. Give me a hug."

The design of the toy is great, which is why I gave it a 3 rating. I always love how the Toy Story toys end up looking, but what a depressing toy.

so cool
first of all, i am 24 years old and will never grow up. that being the case i decided to get the lotso cuz i love the voice. people complaining about the voice confuses me because it is the best part, and i would never buy a 50 dollar stuffed animal. this toy is so cool, my gf is jealous because i didnt buy it for her. i love it. best toy ever, although my wall-e toy is real cool, too. i have no regrets about the toy, people want everything nowadays, its a damn talking stuffed animal and if you arent a big pixar/toy story fan, dont bother. but if you are, you will really love the LOTSO HUGGIN BEAR. because he rules!

This is the one to buy
This lotso is the one with the cuter face and has all the best features and comes with a authentic toy certificate. I even think the material is better but it's pricer than the reg 15 inch one with the grouchy face.This one also talks. What kind of puzzles me is that is says AA batteries required however mine had double A batteries in them I opened the battery compartment and saw them inside. My husband bought 2 of these and I opened the other one it too had batteries in them anybody else have batteries included when the box says not included? Please let me know

Smells like real strawberries but wish it would do more for the price.
My son is currently obsessed with everything Toy Story and as a result(and my being a big kid)I am too. So it was with great excitement that we purchased Lots O Huggin Bear.

First thing you'll notice is how huge he is. Since the Toy Story Collection(TSC)line from Thinkway is all about movie accuracy Lotso is in scale with the rest of the Toy Story gang and that means he's big. Next you'll notice the distinctive strawberry smell emanating from the package. By notice I mean you can smell it down the hall. My wife could smell it the second I walked in the door with it. Once you get him out of the box it's even stronger.

Thankfully the voice is movie accurate too, meaning Ned Beatty voiced all the lines for the toy. Generally this is true about all the TSC toys but we've been disappointed in the past to find that the TSC Woody didn't feature Tom Hanks' voice. So to hear Beatty's voice coming out of a pink, strawberry-scented bear is fantastic.

I've seen some complaints about the creepiness of the voice and I can say, without a doubt, the voice IS creepy but that's really the charm. The line are delivered in the desperate tone of someone who's been abandoned before and needs constant reassurance that it won't happen again (just like in the movie, WOW). Though a couple times I thought if I didn't hug him I would come home one day to find him dangling from a rope.

The biggest strike against this toys is the poor voice interactivity, but to be fair that is a fault with all Thinkway Toy Story toys. The box claims that if you talk to Lots O Huggin Bear that he will respond and talk back and even know when you've raised your voice. I could only get this feature to work when I was yelling and even then he always responded with the same phrase. Maybe I'm just spoiled because we own the fantastic "Aloha Stitch" from Hasbro Disney Aloha Stitch Interactive Talking Doll, which was purchased for fraction of the cost almost 10 years ago.

In the end I suppose you're not paying for the interactivity but movie accuracy which pays off in spades.

Creepy and Weird
The voice and phrases the bear uses are creepy. The voice is that of an old man's voice, and at times sound like an unwelcome, possibly disturbed stranger that you would steer your child away from. This bear is not a "nice" bear, as even in the movie he is morally ambiguous and mean at times.

I suggest that you listen to the bear before dropping the $[...] on this.
